Today's tip is about making sure your horse is drinking enough, especially on these cold winter days. Suggestions include heated water buckets or adding an electrolyte to his diet to encourage him to drink. My horses live outside, and the farm where I board uses water heaters in the troughs to make sure they always have access to plenty of ice-free water ? and fortunately my guys are good drinkers. I, on the other hand, have to force myself to drink enough water during the colder months. My trick is using a large recyclable water bottle vs. a glass, drinking lukewarm vs. ice-cold water and drinking lots of decaffeinated, flavored teas. If you're anything like me, hopefully these tricks will help you drink up!
