Jen Mellace: Day 24

Today’s tip offers a dessert recipe from Hayley Mason and Bill Staley, authors of Make it Paleo: Over 200 Grain Free Recipes for Any Occasion. While I haven’t tried their Fig Pinwheels yet, I do plan to. In the meantime I continue to be mindful of my evening noshing and how to cut calories when I can. While I’ve never been one to order dessert when we go out to eat, I do like to treat myself to an after dinner snack at home. Preferably that snack would be a large bowl of ice cream (mint chocolate chip or rocky road), but I’ve opted against that and instead snack on popcorn, a Weight Watchers dessert or a couple cookies and a cup of tea. If I can stick to the healthier snacks on a regular basis, from time to time I will treat myself to ice cream. But instead of a large bowl, I use a little teacup to make sure I control my portions.
