The benefits of the walk

Wether you have been busy working your horse all winter or are just now getting back into your riding routine, walk is an important gait that is often overlooked. Walk is a great low impact way to bring your horses fitness back up or recover between sets of more difficult work. Keeping the work fun for your horse should include walk breaks that give time to relax the muscles and build the relationship between horse and rider. I have learned with my own horses it always pays to take an extra 20 minutes or more to spend time walking to stretch, relax and also enjoy.
Where do you enjoy walking your horse?
Here I am walking one of my mares in the field for her warm-up. She loves that!
HAPPY SPRING!!! 🙂
