THINKING OF OUR BLESSINGS

This past Saturday morning I was invited to attend the Loudoun Hunts blessing of the hounds at beautiful Fox Glen Farm in Waterford, VA. The weather was perfect, the horses and riders well turned out and the hounds were obedient and happy! The hounds and riders gathered on the front lawn and the priest gave a lovely blessing to all of the hounds. I especially like this part of the blessing ” O God, who of thy love sanctifieth all things by thy Word, pour down thy mercy upon these thy servants, their horses and their hounds; to all who shall take part in this hunt, grant protection of body and soul; make us all ever mindful of, and responsive to, the needs of others, that the spirit of true sportsmanship may prevail in all that we do; all which we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord.” This part to me is a great reminder to help others, take great care of our animals, and to practice good sportsmanship. It has me thinking of all of the things in my life that I am thankful for. My life with horses is one of my greatest blessings as well as all of my wonderful students. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
