2026 USDF FEI-Level Trainers Conference | Charell Garcia and MW Virtuous Day 1

German Olympian Heike Kemmer and FEI 5* judge Christof Umbach work with Charell Garcia and 5-year-old Oldenburg stallion MW Virtuous on Day 1 of the conference to help the pair achieve more suppleness, balance and correct engagement from the hind end. Early in the session, they focused on helping Garcia establish a clear, active walk and a swinging trot rhythm. Next, they introduced shoulder-fore to encourage the stallion to better engage his hind legs. In canter, Kemmer and Umbach advised Garcia to keep the outside hind leg working toward the horse's center of gravity. Then, they worked on collection through half-halts and shoulder-in to prepare for lateral work, including half-passes.
