Juan Manuel talks about the importance of using the short sides to show the horse at their best to the judge and how important it is to keep the horse forward They do haunches in at the trot and then move across the diagonal without too much bend They return to the canter after a walk break and he sometimes goes in a light seat to allow his back to be freer He explains how it will be easy to collect him once he gets him forward and how at this stage he allows more freedom in the canter He shows a beautiful extension in the trot demonstrating his talent He works a trot serpentine circling when he has problems Juan then asks for a haunches in to counter act his tendency to throw his haunches out After a half pass he stretches him out to relax to the extent he doesnt pull on the reins A free soft light canter ends the work session
