Show Jumping - Powerful and Balanced | Lillian Heard Wood

Five-star eventer Lillian Heard Wood instructs a horse-and-rider pair focusing on their power and balance during their show jumping rounds. They start with a cavalletti exercise to warm up and check the horse’s pace and balance. With the small jumps, they work on making sure the horse isn’t taking over and making decisions by regulating the canter stride. As they continue schooling, the canter becomes rounder and allows more adjustability to the fences.     Lillian Heard Wood is an international eventing competitor with 16 CCI5* completions, including top-20 finishes at the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event and Land Rover Burghley CCI5*. She spent 10 years as a working student for five-star eventers Boyd Martin and Jan Byyny. Now, Heard Wood runs her training business out of Lanefield Farm in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
