Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel—Riding the Neck Up and Out

Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel works with a rider and a tense mare who tends to curl and get rigid in her neck

In this video, Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel works with a rider and a tense mare who tends to curl and get rigid in her neck. They work on shoulder-in and haunches-in in both trot and canter to help maintain the horse’s proper bend and alignment. She also talks about the importance of riding the corners and proper preparation coming out of the corner and short side so that a movement can be correctly ridden on the long side. They finish with a stretchy trot to encourage even more reach with the horse’s neck and topline.
