Lessons from Silva Martin + Recovery from Intense Work

Silva Martin encourages clinic riders to ride forward and straight. PLUS, insights to help your horse recover from a challenging training session.

In a special clinic, dressage rider Silva Martin helped a group of eventers improve their dressage. She focused on
the basics, including riding the horses forward and straight and suppling them.

Silva offered tips such as:

• Keep the hands down and ride forward and up from your seat.

• Make sure you have the right trot for the test. You want the same trot down the entire centerline.

Also in this issue, Christina “Cricket” Russillo, DVM, discusses steps you can take both before and after your ride
to help your horse recover.
