In this episode of the Dressage Today Podcast, Stephany and Aviva interview their first Hometown Hero—Anne Mouen Stahl. In this new segment called Hometown Heroes, our podcast cohosts are looking for people who’ve had a positive influence on your dressage journey.

With more than 40 years of experience teaching amateur and professional riders, Anne has come to appreciate the profound importance of establishing a strong, reliable foundation in every rider’s training. She’s trained horses and riders through every level of dressage, from Training Level to Grand Prix. This breadth of experience has given her a deep understanding of how to guide riders in the correct execution of dressage movements as they advance—from the early education of the young horse to the refined work required of the elite dressage athlete.

After riding at Morven Park International Equestrian Center following college and working with various trainers at Tempel Lippizans as well as her favorite mentor Juan Matute, Anne has a wide background of dressage education and a deep love of bringing horses of all types along, whether or not they represent the traditional dressage model. She uses a progressive, gymnastic approach in developing horses to allow riders to gain a clear and lasting understanding of the fundamental principles of training through her thoughtful, systematic training.

In their first Hometown Hero segment, Stephany and Aviva interview longtime dressage rider, trainer and coach Anne Mouen Stahl, who was nominated by Dressage Today Podcast listener Nancy Gilby. Courtesy Anne Mouen Stahl

We enjoyed getting to know Anne, and we thank listener Nancy Gilby for submitting her as her as our first Hometown Hero. As always, if you enjoy our podcasts, please like and share them on social media!

We want to know about your Hometown Hero! Even if your candidate isn’t a typical dressage trainer or rider, tell us about the people who’ve had a positive impact in your dressage life. We will select some of our favorites across 2026 to interview for future podcasts.

Are you seeing any of the following signs of vitamin E deficiency in your horse—stiff, sore muscles; neurological issues; lack of energy; poorly developed topline; weak immune system? Studies show that vitamin E levels drop when horses don’t have enough access to fresh, green grass.

Elevate® natural vitamin E can help. A research-proven, powerful antioxidant, Elevate maintains healthy muscle, nerve and immune functions. It does this by delivering a highly bioavailable source of natural vitamin E that is preferentially absorbed and retained in a horse’s tissues. Elevate comes in four formulas—a fast-acting, water-soluble liquid; a maintenance powder for long-term care; a concentrated, veterinary-formula powder; and a vitamin E and selenium powder.
