Dressage Today Podcast: Imposter Syndrome With Dr. Wendy Rice

Aviva and Stephany chat with psychologist Wendy Rice, founder of The A.D.D. Equestrian, on how to overcome negative thought processes that can affect your riding and communication with your horse.

In this episode of the Dressage Today Podcast, sponsored by EQUESTRIAN+, Aviva and Stephany talk with Wendy Rice, Pys.D., founder of Rice Psychology Group and The A.D.D. Equestrian, about her background as a psychologist and how she merged her career with her passion for horses and riding.

Through her program, Wendy offers tools for riders with attention, anxiety and learning challenges to help them achieve their goals, and in our podcast she explains why “imposter syndrome” can affect your riding and communication with your horse. She also offers riders tips on how to overcome this sometimes crippling thought process and talks about why it’s important to be your own best friend when it comes to success and fulfillment both in and out of the saddle.

Aviva and Stephany also catch up on their personal horse lives, including how they’re both still dealing with intense heat as we slide toward mid-October. Additionally, Aviva answers an “Ask the L” question from listener Sarah, who asked what she should do if her horse does a flying change in a Second Level test instead of the proscribed movement.
