Training Buzz: Parking at the Mounting Block

Welcome to Dressage Today Podcast’s Training Buzz. These short podcasts release every other Sunday with quick tips to help you on your dressage journey. Today we again hear from 2021 Dressage at Devon winner and head trainer at Hilltop Farm, Michael Bragdell. One of the more unique skills that Michael teaches his horses is “parking” at the mounting block. He feels that teaching a horse is to stand still while being mounted is extremely important. He demonstrates how he teaches this particular task, including standing on the horse’s left side and asking the horse to move towards him with the whip on the right side.
