VIDEO: Susanne von Dietze on The Dressage Rider’s Seat

How the rider’s seat, balance and position affect the horse

This week we begin our series with physiotherapist, trainer, author of Balance in Movement and longtime Dressage Today contributor Susanne von Dietze who recently conducted a three-day clinic at Grand Prix trainer JJ Tate’s farm in Landrum, South Carolina.

In this first series of videos, Susanne takes us through an unmounted session where she describes the use of the rider’s seat and leads auditors (and you!) through exercises. Next, Susanne takes to the saddle and demonstrates her how the rider’s seat, balance and position affect the horse. Finally, we watch Susanne work with JJ and one other rider on their positions.

Next week, we’ll continue with Susanne as she helps other riders in the clinic.
