Dressage Today OnDemand Launches New Training Video Series with International Grand Prix Competitor and Trainer Shannon Dueck

Boulder, Colorado – January 5, 2022 – Top international Grand Prix dressage competitor and trainer Shannon Dueck has joined the star-studded list of top dressage riders, trainers and professionals on Dressage Today OnDemand.

Dueck, who was born in Austin and grew up outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, is well-known for her love and knowledge of classical dressage and the biomechanics behind it. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in Equine Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Texas A&M University. She went on to become faculty at Lakeland College and Olds College in Alberta, Canada and later at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dueck trained her first real dressage star, Korona, from the beginning. The partnership competed successfully at the Grand Prix level for many years and won an individual silver medal at the Pan Am Games in 1999. Dueck has trained many horses and riders through the FEI levels and is currently bringing along several young prospects.

Part of what has shaped Dueck into such a great rider and trainer is the wonderful coaching she has received throughout her career. In the very beginning, she rode with Klaus Albin and Dietrich Von Hopfgarten in Langley, British Columbia with her event horses. In her adult life, she has had extensive help from Bert Rutten, Lars Peterson, Kathy Connelly, Robert Dover, Steffen Peters, Hubertus Schmidt, Wolfram Wittig and most recently Carl Hester of Great Britain.

Regardless of the level you’re riding at, Dueck’s keen insights into horse and rider biomechanics and rider position can help you ride more effectively. In her new video series on Dressage Today OnDemand, she covers topics like correct shoulder, leg and hip position for riders, riding the hind legs, focusing on a forward tempo and rider’s seat for lateral work.
